Although nearly all my recent work has been realized in what are, essentially traditional painting techniques; ie oil on canvas, a huge part of this work is to push these very techniques and materials to their absolute limits.
Other essential components are emotional intelligence and a poetic sensibilty often executed in a fugitive and subtle earth based palette.
These paintings strive to be beautiful, haunting and
contemplative - often existing as objects
in their own right.
Painting has and I hope always will be a journey of change and exploration. Alchemy comes to mind, trying to create something beautiful from combining raw materials. At first its all experimentation but gradually it becomes part of your own language of painting, with a pure energy to transfer onto the canvas.
